POST-RIO BREAK She took six months away from the sport after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, following the disappointment of losing the individual epee bronze medal bout. "Although my fourth place in Rio was not a bad thing, as nobody expected me to do so well, thinking about it still makes me sad [speaking in late 2016]. I couldn't start fencing again because I felt a sort of blockage due in part to that day in Rio. It was necessary to take a break to re-evaluate, heal a few little niggles, and rediscover my desire."
