When and where did you begin this sport? He began fencing at age 12 after a friend invited him to a class at Beaches Sabre Club in New York, NY, United States of America.
Why this sport? "I really liked that it was one-on-one. It was all up to me competing with my opponent. It was very physical and very tactical. It was also very technical, but I didn't really get that part of it at the time."

Other information MEDICAL CONDITION
At age 15 he began losing weight rapidly, causing doctors to believe he was anorexic. When he struggled to regain weight despite eating over 6,000 calories a day, they started to look for other causes. He was eventually diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune condition that causes an adverse reaction to gluten in the small intestine.
