MEDICAL CONDITION At age 15 he began losing weight rapidly, causing doctors to believe he was anorexic. When he struggled to regain weight despite eating over 6,000 calories a day, they started to look for other causes. He was eventually diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune condition that causes an adverse reaction to gluten in the small intestine. He now has a gluten-free diet to help alleviate the condition. (timesunion.com, 12 Jul 2012) |
