POSITIVE TEST She was stopped from competing at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, after failing a drugs test in September 2011. She tested positive for a substance that was contained in the medicine she had been using to treat her asthma. She was later given a three-month ban. "I told the judge [that she had taken the medicine]. I have never denied it. At no point did I think about quitting, because I always had a clear conscience. I have a disease, I am asthmatic and used the product out of necessity. If I hadn't used it that night, I could have died." (folha.uol.com.br, 28 Jun 2015; esportes.estadao.com.br, 22 Oct 2011) |
